Safe Night Precincts (SNPs) were created in 2014 in consultation with the Queensland Police Service and local councils as a means of reducing late-night drug and alcohol-related violence in key entertainment areas across Queensland. Three-yearly reviews are to be conducted of each Safe Night Precinct (SNP) to consider whether the prescribing of the area continues to achieve its purpose to:

• minimise harm, and the potential for harm, from the abuse and misuse of alcohol and drugs, and associated violence; and

• minimise alcohol and drug-related disturbances, or public disorder.

This evaluation framework outlines a comprehensive and practical approach to guide and facilitate these reviews.
