The Smart Generation Project is funded through an Australian Research Council Linkage grant which aims to reduce adolescent alcohol use. The Linkage grant includes CTC Ltd, MCRI and Deakin University as research partners. The Linkage grant will support collaborators to undertake a national project that aims to use the Communities That Care process to coordinate evidence-based community interventions. The project objective is to prevent alcohol problems by assisting young people and their families to adopt national alcohol guidelines that discourage adolescent alcohol use. The project impact will be evaluated through a national community-randomised trial. The project specifically targets secondary school students and their parents to promote messages about the national alcohol guidelines for adolescents, secondary supply legislation, and the importance of having a conversation and setting rules around alcohol use.
