Making a difference: NDRI researcher’s impact recognised

The significant difference research conducted by NDRI researcher Dr Sam Colledge-Frisby has made in a short time has been recognised with a university-wide award for research excellence.

Dr Sam Colledge-Frisby, a Research Fellow based at NDRI’s office in Melbourne, received the Award for Research Excellence – People ECR in the Curtin University 2023 Research and Engagement Awards.

The award recognises outstanding research in any discipline that makes a difference for people. Sam joined NDRI in mid-2022 after submitting her PhD thesis earlier in the year.

“Her research has focused on improving the quality of life for people who inject drugs. Specifically, she has investigated clinical harms within this population such as bacterial infections, venous disease, overdose, suicide, and blood borne viruses,” the nomination said.

“In her work, she provides evidence and advocates for effective harm reduction strategies and the upscale of these types of interventions.”
