The research aims to:

1. Assess older people's knowledge and perceptions about the health risks and benefits associated with the consumption of alcohol;

2. Investigate what sources of information and which communication mediums have influenced beliefs; and

3. Assess older people's knowledge of the current Australian alcohol guidelines.

Implications:

Identifying the significant beliefs about alcohol and the key sources of information relied upon by older people in developing these beliefs will have potentially significant implications for primary preventative health care in Australia.
