Professor Richard Midford

Richard is an Associate Professor at the National Drug Research Institute, where he co-ordinates the community prevention research program. He is interested in how harm prevention programs can be developed in partnership with local communities, prevention of harm in workplace settings and in the development of effective school drug education. Over the past five years he has received over A$2 million in competitive grant or commissioned research funding. He is an assistant editor for Addiction. He is a past chair of the Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation (Healthway) research sub committee and is president of the Injury Control Council of WA (ICCWA). He is currently involved in the following research: whole of community intervention in a regional city, school based drug education; community management of school leaver celebrations and evaluation of alcohol sales restrictions in high risk communities. He has published over 100 journal articles, book chapters and reports on his work.
