Violence Perpetration: Profiling, Prediction and Prevention

  • Lead organisation: University of New South Wales

Our vision is to use a public health approach to tackle the scourge of violence and family/domestic violence by generating knowledge from novel perspectives, and examining preventable and modifiable risk factors (e.g., adverse childhood events, mental illness, impulsivity) associated with the violent perpetrator. Highly experienced researchers and industry partners will come together with Aboriginal and early to mid-career researchers to drive the research agenda and create a world’s first centre focussing on those who use violence, rather than its aftermath. The CRE is consistent with Commonwealth government and other peak bodies’ calls to flip the emphasis away from “response and women, to prevention and men”.
