The terms of reference for this commissioned project were: 1. To review the published social/behavioural research literature on injecting drug use and HIV/AIDS in Australia, and such overseas sources as appear pertinent, with a view to prioritising the outstanding research questions. 2. To review Commonwealth AIDS Research Grants (CARG) funding projects on injecting drug use, the details of which are to be provided by the Secretary of CARG, and review those Australian research projects on injecting drug use funded from other sources. 3. To prepare a draft report for presentation to a workshop to be held in conjunction with the Third International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm, following which a final report reflecting the rank ordering determined at the workshop would be presented.
