Two awards in two days for rising NDRI research star

A National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) alcohol researcher recently received two early career researcher awards on consecutive days.

NDRI Research Fellow Dr William Gilmore received the Curtin University Faculty of Health Sciences Early Career Researcher of the Year Award 2024. The Faculty award recognises an early career researcher for their research excellence, impact of their research contributions in the community and their building of research capacity at Curtin.

The following day, Dr Gilmore was also announced as the enAble Institute's 2024 Early Career Researcher in recognition of his contribution to building research capacity and culture in the enAble Institute in addition to research excellence and impact, with award judges noting his 'exceptional research track record, excellent work with community partners and very strong impact'. NDRI is part of the enAble Institute.

Dr Gilmore, whose alcohol research also includes development of the interactive Australian alcohol-attributable harm visualisation tool, has been awarded $8.2 million in state, national and international research funds and co-authored more than 70 research outputs, including a first-author article in Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
