NDRI researcher to be President of Kettil Bruun Society
NDRI researcher, Dr Anne-Marie Laslett, was recently voted President-elect of the Kettil Bruun Society (KBS) for Social and Epidemiological Research on Alcohol. Anne-Marie's term as President will officially begin in June 2019. Until then her role is to understudy current President Professor Sally Casswell who took over from Professor Kyp Kypri in June at this year’s annual KBS conference held in Sheffield, UK, and Vice President Dr Tom Babor.
The Kettil Bruun Society is "an international organization of scientists engaged in research on the social aspects of alcohol use and alcohol problems". Its aim is "to promote social and epidemiological research on alcohol and foster a comparative understanding of alcohol use and alcohol problems in a spirit of international cooperation".
Dr Laslett is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) and the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR). The emphasis of Anne-Marie’s research is on the harm to children from others’ drinking.
Anne-Marie looks forward to supporting alcohol researchers from around the world through the KBS over the years to come.
