International cannabis policy panel recording available

The recording of an international cannabis policy panel discussion from Lisbon Addictions 2022, the European Conference on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies, is now available.

Legalisation of cannabis use and supply for recreational purposes has changed the policy landscape. The Current and Future Challenges Associated with Emerging Cannabis Markets panel, featuring NDRI Director Professor Simon Lenton among cannabis researchers from four continents, discussed challenges that have emerged balancing public health, public safety and social justice in the development of new recreational cannabis markets in Australia, the U.S., Europe, Uruguay and New Zealand.

It interrogated the latest evidence from profit-driven commercial models and impacts on arrests, consumption, traffic safety, prices and the size of the illegal market as well as such ‘middle ground’ policy options as legally regulated cannabis social clubs and mixed supply models.
