Geriatric juggernaut – alcohol and prescription drug use harms

Much has been written about the burden Australia’s ageing population will pose for the health sector.

In this Guest Column for Medical Forum, NDRI Alcohol Policy and Strategies program leader Professor Tanya Chikritzhs examines the challenges the combination of people living longer and using alcohol and prescription drugs will pose, suggesting understanding and preventing concurrent alcohol and prescription drug use will reduce that burden.
