Measuring alcohol risk using an AI chatbot

The Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF) has developed a chatBot for its website to allow people to screen for their own alcohol-related risk. The chatbot also provides information to support individuals who want to reduce alcohol-related harms and directs users to tailored behaviour change resources.

Researchers from the National Drug Research Institute are inviting anybody who drinks alcohol to complete a short questionnaire using the chatbot.

Go to the ADF website and look for the dib chat bubble in the bottom right corner of the page. Select “Yes” and then type “alcohol” to get started.

This study has been approved by the Curtin Human Research Ethics Committee (HR2025-0602).
