In 1998, on behalf of the Office of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH), NDRI staff conducted evaluations of Kununurra-Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation and Ngnowar-Aerwah Aboriginal Corporation’s Alcohol Projects. Subsequently, OATSIH funded this project to work with Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation to further develop and implement the recommendations made by NDRI as part of original evaluation. As part of the project, an NDRI staff member worked with Waringarri staff to develop a structured six-week residential treatment program and aftercare service. A report, which included a review of the implementation of recommendations, a step by step treatment outline, and client assessment forms for on-going project evaluation, was submitted to the Waringarri Aboriginal Corporations Management Committee.
